Hello hello! Here's my survey...!! Please vote! :)
location: Seattle, baby! Home of American Idol auditions SO BAD that they didn't come back here a second time!
what first drew you to american idol ? I'll admit that I didn't watch all of the first season. I was busy with school so I didn't actually hear about the show until it was around halfway through. But once I watched it, I was hooked! I love singing competitions...it's just so fun to watch people perform and have fun out there. And it's even better when they blow me away with their voice!
did you watch both seasons? Half of Season 1 and all of Season 2 :) (I also watched all of Season 3)
which did you like better? why? I think I liked Season 2 better for one main reason. In Season 1, Kelly's voice was absolutely phenomenal, but other than that, there wasn't anyone else that really stood out for me. In Season 2 there were a lot of people who I thought were amazing! Clay, Kimberley, Kimberly, Trenyce, etc.
which idol did you like better, kelly clarkson or ruben studdard? I like Kelly a lot better. She has an amazing voice, but there's something just so sincere and sweet about her that makes me like her a lot more.
In the first season, who was your favorite? why? Definitely Kelly. I was completely blown away by her voice. Then when I saw what her personality was like, I just liked her even better. She could be poised yet she could break into a goofy mode whenever she wanted. I loved her!
Between Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson, who did you want to be the American Idol? why? Definitely Kelly. She had the voice AND the attitude. And to be completely honest, I don't think Justin had either.
In the second season, who was your favorite? why? Oh man, it's gotta be Clay. The first time I heard him sing it actually shocked me! I mean, to see this dorky guy walk up and proclaim he's going to be the next American Idol? I honestly remember laughing out loud. But then he opened his mouth and BAM! I was hooked. And he just got better and better each week, bringing something different and unique to the competition until I was completely in love with his voice and his personality.
Between Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, who did you want to be the American Idol ? why? I was heartbroken when Clay lost. I thought he had the voice, the attitude, the looks, and the talent to win and really make it far. Ruben had an alright voice, but in my opinion, it didn't really sound any different to me than other R&B singers out there. Also, I didn't feel like Ruben was a very...personable guy. Maybe he was just quiet, but he hardly spoke and didn't seem very thankful to be as far in the competition as he was. However Clay graciously took his praise and thanked the audience, his fans, and the judges constantly. Clay was and is a real class act and that's what I thought he should win.
Who was your favorite judge? I used to hate Simon, and still don't like him that much, but I think he's got to be the best one on the panel. He's frank, honest, and won't sugarcoat things like Paula or beat around the bush like Randy
If Simon wasn't your favorite judge, what did you think about him? N/A
Did you go to any of the American Idol Tour Concerts? Yes, I went to the Season 2 show in Seattle.
What did you think? It was great fun! I mean, it didn't blow me away by any means, but it was just so fun to see the contestants back together and having the absolute time of their lives.
Did it change your opinion on any of the contestants? Definitely. I didn't think much of Julia DeMato during the competition, but when she came out and sang at the concert, I was in total and complete awe. She really does have an amazing voice.
Have you met any of the Idols of either season? No, not yet! I'd like to though!
If so, what did you think of them ? N/A
Have you ever stalked any of them ? Nope, I mean...these people are human and I know I'd certainly be scared to find out someone was stalking me! If I got to meet one of them, that'd be great, but that's just the luck of the draw if I do.
What do you think of Kelly Clarkson's music career now? I think it's going great. At first everytime I heard her on the radio I thought, "She won American Idol" but now when I hear her I just think, "Kelly! I love her voice! She's so great!" She's become a real pop star in my eyes and it's so great for her :)
Do you have her cd ? If so, what do you think ? I don't, however after watching her perform "Beautiful Disaster" on the AI3 finale, I kind of want to check it out now.
What do you think of Clay Aiken's music career now? He didn't win American Idol, but he sure proved himself worthy as a singer and a pop star. He's a great guy and has a real good image to project out to younger fans. However...he needs to get someone actually GOOD to produce/direct his music videos, because they are hokey and awful to me! Come on Clay, you can afford it! ;)
Do you have his cd ? If so, what do you think ? Yes, I bought it the first day because I couldn't wait to hear it. It's amazing. The CD really shows his voice and how powerful it is. I think it also shows his personality in a lot of the songs. My favorite song on the record is "Shine."
What do you think of Ruben Studdard's music career now ? Honestly, I don't think he really has much of one. I thought that once he won I'd see him everywhere on TV, hear him on the radio, etc. But it just seems like he really hasn't done anything memorable at all. But I'm sure that will come with time.
Will you buy his cd ? No, I didn't buy and don't want to buy his CD.
What do you think about Justin Guarini's music career now ? Last I heard he was dropped from his label, so I don't really think much of it, I guess!
Do you have his cd ? If so, what do you think ? I don't. I just don't like his voice or the way he stylizes things when he sings.
What do you think about his record label dropping him? Do you agree ? I agree because I don't think he did anything worthwhile while on that label, but I think being dropped really gives him a chance to do what he wants to do and maybe grow as a singer even more.
Your Opinion of...
Kimberly Locke : Absolutely AMAZING. Love her voice. She was a real sweetheart too. Her new album is really great.
R.J. Helton : i remember really really liking him, even though he didn't have that strong of a voice. He just seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
Frenchie : I'm going to be honest - what is the big deal with her? Yes, the few times we heard her perform, she sounded great, however to predict that she would have won it all? That's absurd. It wasn't her time and to think that she would have made it that far is just wishful thinking. We also hardly got to know her at all!
Kimberly Caldwell : She's got the looks and the voice. I love the smokiness of it. It's really unique. I just heard some clips from her new album and they sound amazing.
Nikki McKibbin : I really didn't like her style. There was just something about her. And I also just don't understand how far she made it. Her voice was not that strong.
Tamyra Gray : I liked her in the compeition, however I don't like her now. Everyone thinks she's an amazing songwriter, but the songs I've heard her sing on AI shows this year aren't that well-written. She does still have a great voice though.
Trenyce : She deserved to make it further in the competition, but there were also very talented people that made it farther than her. I hope she makes an album, she had a great voice.
Carmen Rasmusen : Sweet girl, but absolutely atrocious voice.
Charles Grigsby : We didn't see enough of him for me to really juge.
Christina Christian : She's alright, but nothing really overly special to me.
Julia DeMato : She REALLY has matured and gained a lot from AI. I hope she puts out an album because I definitely would buy it.
Have you ever tried out for American Idol ? No, I know I have an awful voice :-P
What was your experience ? N/A
Are you planning on trying out next season ? Not unless I want to make it on the rejects show!!
Are you excited for next season? What do you expect ? Well at this point, next season is Season 4...and I'm fairly excited, however in Season 3, there wasn't a lot of people I really liked. Time will tell however, and Season 4 will probably be really good.
Any other opinions you want to include ? maybe some personal stuff, like who's your own idol? I want to include opinions about last season really quickly. I really liked John Stevens. Now I know right away, that I'm going to get some boos from people. I will be honest though - he was really pretty bad on the show and probably shouldn't have made it as far as he did. But I liked his style and since the competition has ended, I've heard him sing on several shows and his voice is just phenomenal and amazing. He really has the Sinatra thing going on. It's great. Also, I liked Matt Rogers a lot...also La Toya London was really good. As for my own idol, that's got to be Rob Thomas of matchbox twenty. He's an amazing guy - great voice, incredible lyrics, and an all-around wonderful guy. I really look up to him.
Do you consider yourself an "OBSESSED" American Idol Fan ? I'll say yes...IF obsessed means I watch every single show, vote, and root on my favorite people to win :)
